RÆSTART REPORT 2.0

COMMUNITY / October 22, 2020

A progress update on our latest activities since RÆSTART 6 months ago.
RÆSTART REPORT 2.0

Six months ago on Earth Day, we announced a RÆSTART. A bold manifesto for change and opportunity to reset, focusing on our three key pillars; DISRUPTION, INNOVATION and INSPIRATION with tangible actions towards a better future.

The past three months have seen further national and international unease, calling for more important work to be done by all of us. In the process, we want to be transparent and more importantly, we want to be accountable for our decisions. We’re not perfect; we know meaningful change will take time and effort to achieve, and results will not be instant. We ask you, our community, to join us in driving this mission.

DISRUPTION — Actions over words

Since the success of the ‘Great British Designer Face Coverings’ initiative, which raised over £500K for NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, BFC Foundation Fashion Fund and Wings of Hope Children’s Charity, we've released a further range of responsible face coverings featuring our iconic shark print. For each sale, we donate 20% to our partners WWF UK.

Selfridges’ radical Project Earth mission is a welcome change in an industry that is slow to evolve. Not only did Christopher contribute to their recent event schedule to drive momentum and conversation, RÆBURN is now also stocked in the central London and Birmingham locations, hoping to challenge further businesses to adapt.

Global Fashion Agenda’s annual CFS+ is the world’s leading event for driving positive change in the industry. For this years’ digital schedule, which was free and accessible globally, Christopher presented Timberland's ambitious goal to be net-positive by 2030 through a combination of circularity and regenerative practices.

INNOVATION — Make less, make better

We’ve been working hard over the past few months to improve not only our overall efficiency, but importantly the digital experience for our community. We’re proud of our brand new website, and imminent mobile app launch, which promises to enrich inspiration, learning and creative opportunities for all.

With travel and educational tours severely reduced, you can now do a Virtual Tour of the RÆBURN Lab. Hosted on our website, the virtual 360 allows anyone to take a walk around, learning about key areas of interests, and getting a glimpse into our multidisciplinary headquarters.

RELICS RÆIMAGINED is an elevated capsule of womenswear pieces, launched for London Fashion Week Digital. Not only did we push our RÆMADE concept further than ever before, the range will only ever be made to order at the RÆBURN Lab. Nothing new, nothing wasted.

INSPIRATION — Transparency and the next generation

In the name of circularity and reduced stock, we now also house a Fabric Shop at the RÆBURN Lab, including previous season fabrics and under-utilised rolls. We hope this provides all creative abilities the access to responsible craft, locally and affordably.

We have connected with local businesses to form the Hackney Low Impact Fashion Trail (Hackney LIFT), a walkable route that maps Hackney's most responsible and creative hubs, and further promotes craft, creativity and community. Available for free use online.

We want to do more to celebrate and support diverse emerging talent, offering our resources as a means for other creatives to grow and meet new audiences. Whether through RÆBURN Recommends features, mentorship or material donations, we are here to help.

As always, this is about involving you, our community, and we welcome your feedback.

We will update you once again in three months’ time with more tangible progress. Short-term future plans include a global initiative for Buy Nothing Day (our take on Black Friday), and an update on our B Corp application.

For now, stay safe and stay creative.

Christopher and all at RÆBURN.
